This was taken at my very favourite place in Toronto, the Scarborough Bluffs. I first noticed the Gulls, then I noticed the humans and thought wow.

Sea of Serenity

Sea of Serenity

A peaceful image of the ever-changing view I see each morning as I walk along Motueka Beach. The gentleness of the waves as they lap the shore and the velvet sea softly coloured by the sunrise.

DAY END REFLECTIONS

DAY END REFLECTIONS

LATE AFTERNOON AFTER A RAINY DAY, WHEN THE SUN ITS TRYING TO MAKE ITS LAST MARK FOR THE ENDING DAY IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE TIMES TO GRAB SOME SHOTS. THE LIGHT IS SOFT AND THE MIRRAGE OF COLORS ON THE REFLECTING SURPACES MERGE WITH THE EMERGING SHADOWS TO PRODUCE AN ABSTACT ALMOST SUBREAL SERENITY.

HOPE YOU LIKE THIS EXAMPLE AND THANK YOU FOR LOOKING AND LETTING ME SHARE THIS IMAGE WITH YOU.

A peaceful moment.

by Manfred Meilinger
(Wasaga Beach, ON, Canada)

Lang Pioneer Village, near Peterborough Ontario. A wonderful place to visit. It’s like stepping back in time. The whole atmosphere is very unhurried and peaceful. All staff are dressed in traditional clothing, adding to the welcome home feeling. The young lady in the image honored me with a faint smile as I was kneeling in front of her taking the photograph. Hopefully she will be there next year, I would like to present her with a framed print of the image. Cheers Manfred

Misty Morning, Oxtongue Lake

Misty Morning, Oxtongue Lake

I am not a morning person . . however I have always read and heard that early morning, before sunrise, is a great time for photos. So, on a recent trip to the Algonquin Park area, I was determined to get up before sunrise and see what all the fuss was about. I set my alarm for just before sunrise, quietly slipped outside with my camera and tripod - and - was disappointed to see an overcast, gray sky with no mist, light or anything "photogenic". I proceeded to enjoy a day hiking in the park, and returned very tired at the end of the day. That night, I turned my alarm to OFF, so I could get some much needed sleep. But early the next morning, something woke me up and I peeked through the curtains and this is what I saw. I grabbed my gear and captured this shot - just before sunrise on Oxtongue Lake.

Riverside GC 9th hole

by Allan Flagel

Golf courses are a great place to escape to for a few hours. I find it very serene and relaxing with the rustling of the leaves and birds chirping. Today I couldn't resist taking a photo of the fall colours with that blue sky and fluffy clouds behind.

Evening Sails

by Ron Chalecki

Between the tranquil sailboats in Oakville Harbour and the pastel painterly sky of a gorgeous evening, this setting evoked serenity. I provided a little diffusion in hopes of enhancing the quiescent mood. This is the image I opted for after several careful considerations.

Quiet Morning

by Brenda
(Fonthill, ON, Canada)

I was up early but too late to hit the 'Y' and it was foggy. Decided to take a walk with my camera (get some exercise) and see what opportunities presented themselves. I had so much fun walking in the fog with the sun on the horizon burning it off. What a feeling!

Calm Evening

by Luba Citrin
(Thornhill, ON, Canada)

This photo was taken at 50 Point Conservation Area on a nice calm evening in spring. Just sitting on a beach, watching water wash over pieces of old broken bridge under last rays of sun is very tranquil.

When I need image for this month challenge, I immediately thought about this one.

Peaceful piglets

Peaceful piglets

Each year the latest piglets keep the people of Motueka entertained as they walk beside the pig pens leading to a walkway by an estuary. This day it was nap time. It had been raining and they had tired themselves out playing in the mud.

Morning Sun

by Stefanie
(Sydney, Australia)

I love being up early in the morning, seeing the sun rise over the water and just enjoying the peace, calm and stillness before the madness of the day starts. Also taking in those first warming rays of sunlight reaching my bench. These morning moments are the serenity which are helping me getting through the hectic work days.

Along The Way....

by Doug Gray
(Guelph Ont., Canada)

Driving in the light rain along the roadway that leads to Killbear PP, we came along this clump of trees. The reds were gone but the oranges and yellows were very prominent and harmonizing with the surrounding ground cover and the centre-line of the roadway. The lack of others around, the softness of the light and de-sharpening of the image makes for me a very serene scene.

Iconic African Sunset

Serenity

by Brian Palmer
(Whiby, ON, Canada)

Serenity is different things to different people.
For me it is a camp fire, babbling brook or a waterfall.
There is something I find most calming in each of these. Perhaps it is the fluidity of the movement in each.
This is an image of part of Stubbs Falls in Arrowhead PP near Huntsville, ON.
I used this opportunity to experiment the effect of different shutter speeds on moving water. The 'experts' would have us believe that the only way to shoot waterfalls is with a very long exposure to make give a dreamy, lacy effect. I agree that the effect looks nice but somewhat artificial. This shot was an attempt to retain some of that effect but still retain some of the turbulence in the water. Did I succeed?
