Low Lying Sunset - Motueka

by Lisa Ball
(Motueka, Nelson (NZ))

A sunset from an unusual perspective, I was passing our local airfield which has this long grass growing and couldn't resist capturing the colours through the stems. I was quite happy with the result.

SOFT STROKES OF SUNSET

by Luis A Vera
(Laflin, PA, USA)

IN NE PENNSYLVANIA DURING THE WINTER THE HIGHEST ANGLE OF SUNLIGHT IS 71 DEGREES MAKING THE SUNRAYS LOW AND ACCOUNTING FOR VERY IMPRESSIVE SUNSETS ON CLOUDY DAYS, WHCIH ARE FREQUENT THIS TIME OF THE YEAR. BY FULL WINTER IT IS NOT UNUSUAL TO BE ABLE TO PHOTOGRAPH FULL SUN SHOTS RIGHT OVER THE HORIZON AS IT SETS. THESE SAME QUALITIES ACCOUNT FOR INCREDIBLE SUNRISES AS WELL. THANK YOU FOR LOOKING.

Sunset on Awaroa estuary

by Coralie Smith
(Motueka, New Zealand)

Awaroa sunset

Awaroa sunset

The Awaroa estuary is on the Abel Tasman National Park walk in the Nelson Province, New Zealand. We stay there often but I had never tried to capture the sunset until October this year. Being a tidal estuary I needed a day that the tide was out so I could position myself towards the west and the setting sun. The water is caught by the last rays of the sun in a silvery shine.

Lake Huron Sunset framed

by Jack M. Pal
(Bayfield, ON, Canada)

This photo was taken from our front yard overlooking lake Huron. Not coincidentally, our home is called Sunset Point. This region (Ontario's West Coast) is known for some of the best sunsets in the world. We are blessed to live here. The photo with its framing brings back memories...especially in the darkness of winter...of sultry summer evenings.

Flax flower silhouette

by Wendy Reeve
(Motueka, NZ)

We have been a bit short of sunsets lately with all the rain but one better evening I spotted the flax flowers in my garden silhouetted against the sky. I loved the colour of the sky contrasted with the crisp dark shapes of the flower spike.
