No Picnic Today

by Gaile Douglas
(Motueka, New Zealand)

I love the way this picnic table, with the sea, road and land beyond undulate (almost earthquake-like which central NZ is experiencing plenty of at the moment). This photo was taken in heavy rain through my car windscreen, near the port of Motueka.

Rainy Night in Budapest

by Jamie Carrier
(Loveland, Colorado, USA)

My husband and I were waiting for the bus to come. As the people passed, I snapped this photo. I didn't notice until I started playing around with the picture that all the blue umbrellas were moving away from us while the black umbrellas were moving toward us!

This was taken at 1/15 sec at f/4.9 ISO 400

A Cup of Tea, A Good Book on a Rainy Day

by Roy Burson
(Ft. Worth Texas USA)

While vacationing in Colorado, it started to rain one afternoon. Being from Texas where it seldoms rain in August, it seemed like a good time to get a cup of tea, a good book and enjoy watching the rain fall.

Reflections in water droplets

by Janet Slater

It's been a year already since I took my first photography class and since then I have learned to love the rain in the Vancouver area and the beauty that it offers. This photo was taken in a beautiful field of Lupins very early in the morning after a rain. I love the reflection of the flowers in the water droplets on the leaves.

Raindrops on Ferns

by Wendy Reeve
(Motueka, NZ)

We have had such a lot of rain lately, but the ferns love it and flourish. I like the way the rain drops collect along the ends of the fronds and then run off at the bottom.

Sunbeams and Diagonals

by Lorna
(Saskatchewan, Canada/Jalisco, Mexico)

The sunbeams illuminated the raindrops that fell on the branches of a Siberian Larch tree in our back yard. The bright diagonals created by the sunbeams on the lawn and through the trees seemed to balance the opposite diagonals of the heavy tree branches.

FAIRY LIGHTS

FAIRY LIGHTS

Fairy drops, after a very wet night in Namaqualand (I had gone there to photograph the stunning array of flowers) early morning walked out to see a sparkling sight, so I lay down with my macro lens & disappeared for an hour in the grass!!

A Rainy Day In Carmel California

A Rainy Day In Carmel California

A Rainy Day In Carmel California

For Carmel, it was unusual to have a wet afternoon to go sightseeing in. We had set off for lunch at a Carmel restaurant, the one in the image. It did look warm & inviting on this wet day, so the rain added to the mood & the restuarant added warmth & a good meal. Image is an HDR of three images merged with Photomatix Pro 4

A couple of rain drops :-)

by Manfred Meilinger
(Wasaga Beach, ON)

We haven't had a substantial rainfall lately. Here is one image from my collection. The bush with all the rain drops is called a "burning bush", so I was told. It was really pouring that day, with me hiding under a large umbrella. Enjoy, cheers Manfred.

Flowers in the Rain

by Mabel Au
(Mississauga, Ontario, Canada)

Captured this shot through the glass at Centennial Park Conservatory, Etobicoke. It was pouring and I found the rain on the glass gave the garden an impressionist look, just like Claude Monet's painting.

After the rain, stories unfold ...

by Clark Bales
(Toronto, ON, Canada)

The Distillery District in Toronto , Ontario is a favourite destination for many photographers , the photo opportunities are endless , from architectural images of fascinating historic buildings to textures in walls & cobblestone pathways to rust studies found in the two old relics (trucks)resting in peace ...
my favourite time is after the rain , the numerous puddles formed on the cobbelstone pathways after a rain open up a whole new world of photo opportunities ...

Holy Roller--NYC

by Larry Monczka
(Port Ryerse, Ontario)

While shooting Rollerbladers in Central Park in New York City, the skies opened. It was a hot, steamy, summer downpour. I held an umbrella in one hand and the camera in the other and kept shooting. The cliché is true--bad weather makes good photographic opportunities.
