Arches & Shadows

I'm not sure if the vanishing point is strong enough.

Water well from the past

by Coralie Smith
(Motueka, New Zealand)

The well is over 150 years old and was built by a pioneering family. No longer in use it fascinated me because of the oblong bricks making a round well, and then when vanishing point was the topic I could see one because of the pipe that was used later.
Do you agree?

Through the Ages

by Rick Adams
(Nashville, TN, U.S.A.)

I enjoy making photographs around the property at the church we attend. The 2 gnarled trees on each side of the gazebo in the memorial gardens captured my attention long enough for me to capture this image.

THE CITY OF FAR GONE PERCEPTION

by LUIS A VERA
(LAFLIN, PA, USA)

THE COLORS OF NIGHT

THE COLORS OF NIGHT

WHILE SITTING IN MY CAR, I SHOT THIS NIGHT VIEW OF ONE OF THE STREETS IN A SMALL COLLEGE TOWN IN NORTH EAST PENNSYLVANIA. THEN I DECIDED TO GIVE IT A "VAN GOGH" LOOK FOR MORE IMPACT. THE COLORS WERE NOT ALTERED; NEITHER WAS THE COMPOSITION.

THANKS FOR LOOKING.

Pedestrian Bridge

by Charles Luker
(San Angelo, TX, USA)

This image has multiple sets of parallel lines which all seem to "merge" at the same vanishing point.
Julie, I have really enjoyed trying to find a picture for this month's challenge! I had driven under this bridge several times this month and had not thought about it having the "vanishing point" that I was looking for until today.

A Journey into the Unknown

by Wendy Reeve
(Motueka, NZ)

This picture was takn at Wellington Railway Station. The actual vanishing point is not visible as it disappears into the unknown, but I know it is there. The near symmetry appeals to me too.

Life's A Beach

by John Vogel
(Bay Village, OH, USA)

I'm rather new to photography and have learned much from your site! I think that the distant horizon qualifies as "Vanishing In The Distance", but I'm not sure... The photo is from Koh Chang, Thailand which is an island in the extreme southeast of Thailand near Cambodia.

Thanks for all of the work which you've put into this website, it's a fantastic resource! : )

Twist a zoom

by Pete Torok
(Nunavut Canada)

This is a shot of our small hamlet from a local hill top. After looking at some of the vanishing point shots, I thought of a zoom line shot. In early evening the light is a cool blue, and the different types of vapour light glow different colours.
