Bring a buddy

If you're shy about approaching people, it can help to bring along a "photo buddy" -- someone who will shoot with you. It can boost your confidence level if you have another person beside you who is also shooting. Having someone else along seems to legitimize what you're doing -- in your own eyes, as well as those of potential subjects.

I like this idea. It's definitely true that I lose some inhibitions when I have someone else along shooting with me. It does add confidence.
